Last weekend Eric and I took a stroll in the rain to say goodbye to Seattle’s infamous Gum Wall. Located on Post Alley Road and part of Pike Place Market, today these walls will be power-washed clean for the first time in twenty years. Apparently two decades worth of gum has (or would have) caused structural damage. Don’t worry though! Once the walls are washed clean, visitors will be encouraged to restart this colorful – yet totally unsanitary – tradition yet again. Ha! Blanca Lake
Everyone lives for summer in Seattle and unfortunately for us, we moved at the tail end of the season. Knowing that we had about five weeks before rainy season commenced, we set out to conquer Blanca Lake almost immediately. We hiked often on the east coast but rarely would we find a trail as beautiful as Blanca (or as challenging!).
